DIR at DailyKos

I’ve long been a regular visitor to DailyKos, the website for the activist Democrat, chock-full of analysis & news & carping & so on, but I haven’t left comments on any of the articles in ages – years? I checked to see if my registration was still active -- a little surprised to find it was.

Then I thought, well, since I hang out there so much and DailyKos gets a zillion visitors and people can post their own “diaries” about nearly anything why don’t I repost a thing or two I’ve written for DIR? I say things about stuff. I use a bit of substance in the making. They’d hold up to a Sunday morning skim.

In the last few days I’ve posted two diaries. Each got a few comments. If you’re curious, check out my LuvSet diaries.

135 comments on your Obama poll when I looked this morning. Lively.

Almost all those 135 comments came within two hours. Crazy, huh?

And some of them were pretty crazy. Did you learn anything?

Learn anything? I underestimated the extent to which a provocative title would provoke -- I thought it was just an attention grabber and fairly banal in the context of the essayette. "I don't trust Obama" ... still true, but mainly as a contrast to the folks who were crying out We Trust Obama Completely So Shut Up! I'm hopeful about Obama but suspicious. Maybe Clinton's betrayals (hello Denial of Marriage Act) have sensitized me; but Obama's Republicans Are My Buddies act doesn't work for me either.

I learned that I'm less personally wounded by strangers on the internets slinging shit. I learned that there's a big audience at DailyKos. I will repost there more pieces I've written for my blogs. I think I'll refrain from writing heated diaries reacting to the news of the day.
