what’s new

I was going to wait for a paperback edition but last week I felt flush (selling used CDs!) so I went ahead and bought the hardcover of John Porcellino’s King-Cat Classix, a best-of compilation from his self-published King-Kat Comics. I’m sure I have a good chunk of these in their original photocopy, saddle-staple versions. Now it’s high quality paper & printing! Sewn bindings!

As long as I was buying new stuff I also picked up I Love Led Zeppelin, a collection of “panty-dropping comics” by Ellen Forney.

If you ever get a chance to see Forney do a reading of her comics I highly recommend it. She's a blast.

I see a new Best American Comics is out. I was wondering if there would be a #2 in the series.

Where's the best place to sell used cd's in Berkeley, anyway?

Best? Uh. I haven't done enough selling to know, really.

The best place to buy is Amoeba. Especially if you like diving the bargain bins. You can find some great stuff buried in those. If I were selling for credit, intending to get more CDs, I'd have lugged everything to Amoeba. (I've never tried to sell to Rasputin.)

But I just want to reduce the piles and Half Price is more convenient. I've made two sales to them. About 30 CDs each time. The first time I got $14, the second time $54. I hadn't thought the difference in quality that great, but what do I know? The two different buyers probably would have had differing opinions, too.

Back from NYC, are you?

Indeed. Been back for a little while, and was just reminded recently of the ol' Pizza and Poetry shindigs. Now that I have real transportation, I might be able to actually swing by there sometime.

This Friday Poetry & Pizza will feature D.A. Powell & Ryan Courtwright. See the P&P website.

Scheiße. I didn't read your reply until just now, and I won't be able to do the next one because I have to present a poetry project on November 2nd, and I have the GRE the following day. Maybe December?

It looks like I won't be at P&P in December, though everybody else should be. Big Open reading.
