The Mummy or Ramses the Damned by Anne Rice.
Fairly entertaining. I've had it on the shelf for years and finally grabbed it when I needed a book to read on the bus.
Is it distinct from her Vampire stories?
As far as I know. Ramses gets mentioned in one of the vampire books as an example of a non-vampire immortal but he doesn't appear. Or at least he doesn't appear in any that I read. But I gave up after Memnoch the Devil.
